howto: know the UUID of a ext2/ext3 partition

Use the command “dumpe2fs” on the drive you want to get the UUID. Like this:

$ dumpe2fs /dev/sda4

Filesystem volume name:   Root
Last mounted on:          <not available>
Filesystem UUID:          485b1b34-1fb6-408a-aebb-55cbc02c567b
Filesystem magic number:  0xEF53
Filesystem revision #:    1 (dynamic)
